need help rebuilding a d16z6 a lil lost.
ok so i bought a 1993 del sol, d16z6, and it needs new valve seals, and the kids b4 me snapped off the valve cover bolts so i think i am going to buy a new head. can i do this with out messing with the pistons? and what would i need to put a bigger cam in? i dont no whats the cheapest places to go to. thanks. and whats a easy way to add hp? trying to keep it cheap haha.
If you have the money, a good valve job is always nice to do. It will give you 30-50% of the increase a full head porting package would give you, but costs significantly less.
And, yes, you can do this without messing up the pistons.
Best of luck with your project.
ok cool, im am keeping it off the road for like 3 months to get all the work done to it, it needed alot of body work. and ok thank you. so i dont need to change the pistons or anything if i switch heads? my dad said i would. i hope not lol
No. You pull the head on and off without even touching the pistons. However, if you are not absolutely sure its the valve stem seals, this would be a good time to freshen up the short block with new rings, etc.
