Default Leather Chamois Care

I bought one from Walmart. Nothing special. The normal care instructions said:

Wash gently with mild soap and leave a little bit of soap in (the chamois).

Why?

I would think I should ring all the soap out, since I need it to dry the car after a wash.

TIA

They probably just want you to leave the chamois with a very small amount of moisture in it so it doesn't dry out/crack.

I have two rolls in my garage that I can not find (bought from car shows). So I did not want to buy anymore.

I was thinking of wraping mine in a plastic bag when not in use - after dry.

yeah, just leave it SLIGHTLY damp with just water and store it in a bag.

when i used to use the absorber i would always store it slightly damp, but that is a synthetic.

high quality microfiber waffle weave (guzzler) ftw, btw.

yes leaving your absorber chamois with a little bit of water should do you fine, i havent tried the leave it with soap thing but if its the manufacturer's instruction, then i think it would not hurt to try.
