Default clutch install with rsx type trans 02 into a 02 ep3

okay soo the guy with the a2 swap backed out. so i bought a 02 type s trans, opened her up everything looks good as of what we saw. but i order a clutch kit for the ep3 model does it really matter? i thought the trans cases are the same just different internals and a extra gear. btw i have a k20a3 motor

did you order a flywheel too? I think the clutch and flywheel are interchangeable but the flywheels need to be for that certain setup.

So type-s clutch and type-s flywheel

no i way gonna buy it on friday when i get paid. so the clutch kit i got was for the ep3 so just get a flywheel for the ep3 that work with this clutch and i should be fine right. thanks, should had research before i bought it but i was pretty sure it was going to be fine. just double checking.

ohhh yeah! i got a 8 lbs flywheel for it and a excedy clutch kit, and the trans. but question how do i install a switch for reverse lockout, like how does it work and how do i do it. i need to make one and put it by the cig lighter thing to keep things looking clean.

like josh said i dont want that to happen lol! id be pretty pissed off after spending all this money. i getting another a3 motor next week too woohoo, plans are going with a reflash and megan racing midpie, and kid racing header i cant wait!

Project motor? Why not just get the k24a1 with the a2 head on it, that would be a sweet setup.

not really sure exactly where the wires hook up to, cuz it was installed when I wasn't at the shop. I'll call and ask tomorrow and hit you back with info on install. I'm assuming it's wired to somewhere leading to ecu??? the way it works is;
1. Switch OFF: blocks it from getting into Reverse gear.
2. Switch ON: lets you engage into Reverse.

Let's say if you get type-s ecu with type-s tranny, you won't need it, but if you use your a3 ECU, you don't get that 5mph lock out. I had to use it cuz z3 ECU is not compatible with my swap. And, yes, you can install the switch anywhere. Originally it was to be installed where cruise control was, but I wanted switch near the shifter so I'll have easier access. I've gotten used to it after few weeks and I don't have to think about it now.

Also, can you reflash alone compatible with 6 sp tranny? I thought you needed kpro for it???

Also, if you get the RH(delet CAT), you'll get engine check light which you'd need defouler...(kpro lets you delete it). In most of IL, you can't have the light on when you go for emissions check. Good thing they don't sniff your exhaust!

yes i will be using my a3 ecu since im gonna stay true to the motor due to funds, and yup i got a defouler, just looking for a deal on a used header in my area, and i would think the ecu would still work with the trans after reflash becuase it say will stilll work with the dealers hds, just need to wire the lockout thing. let me know what the shop says. thanks

the switch's wired directly to the solenoid on the tranny. i was told it's not that difficult and since you work at honda, if you access to manual, you could prolly get a better idea by looking at the solenoid layout/diagram or something. I'm gonna be making my stop by the shop within two weeks to get some stuff installed/painted and I could def. ask for detailed layout, but not sure you want to wait that long... hope that helps bro.

i picked mine up last week with 70k on it for 600. get shifter bushings and the bc short shifter, and motor mount inserts. it will help from grinding or missing a gear from what i read.
yeah thats what i herd also so im like gonna be grinding my teeth when i go in to 6th. lol

I think the clutch needs to be vehicle/motor specific, but the flywheel may fit...
