i have a 1990 accord ex. i just cleaned out the egr valve and the trans fluid is clean but when it tries to down shift the rev drops and the engine dies. i can shift it to neutral and rev the engine up to keep it running. the only other issue i can add to give more info is that it hold its rev before it sifts for a little too long. im really at a loss on what it could be. please help

torque converter is not unlocking when the car comes to a stop and stalling the motor?

 

Vacuum problem? Idle Air Control Problem?

Does it only do this when the car is cold or it's really cold outside?

 

no the cel is not on and i was kinda thinking that it could be the torque converter not disengaging because when i put it in neutral the revs act like its down shifting kind of its hard to describe i may just break down and bring it to a shop.

 

it does it more readily when its warmed up besides i live in the new orleans area so it never gets very cold
