Default Del Sol worth road racing?

Got into a discussion with one of my friends the other day. He suggested that a Del Sol wouldn't be a good road racing car, because it has too short a wheel base. I've seen Del Sol's on tracks before, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of how they handle. Can any of you give me your opinions? I'd expect the Sol lovers to have something to say...

then i guess all those crx's that race are no good either?

there is only one reason why it wouldn't be a good road racing car, and that is that it doesn't have a roof. but that can be fixed with a properly made roll cage for the del sol.
