Hi, John Gibson - Advice on purchase
I been looking for another car and wanted something a little more practical than a V8 sport car, Lexus SC400. I figure if I wanted to go fast and even save gas at the same time I'll hop on my bike.
I been looking at this 09 white Civic Si for awhile and wanted to know if this was a good purchase or if I could try to get a better deal. After some talk to the owner he agreed to give it to me for $22,773.91 OTD. Note that the dealer is 3 hrs away from me, I'm from central California.
2009
Civic Si
Taffeta White
2,780 miles
Factory navigation
*small paint chip on rear passenger side bumper.
$22,773.91 OTD
Cars I've have also consider are E46 M3, G35/37, 350/70z, 8th Accord coupe, Camry SE, MS3. If I get a Honda, this will be my first. I owned a Acura Integra before.
This will be my DD and I don't plan on doing many mods to it. Maybe some BBS/Works rims, HID retro, coilover. I don't know if I would do an intake or exhaust system. I would like to keep the car as much stock as possible.
Thanks for the input

With or without navigation? I been looking at a lot of used 09 Si from the dealer and they are all about the same price, even the one without the factory navigation. Its even harder to find a taffeta white coupe.
Really? 20k for a new Si OTD? That would mean they sold the car for 18k, 4k under MSRP?

Before the '09 Model year, the coupe's MSRP was 21,080. That's what I paid OTD.
I don't think I-vtec dohc has navigation. Just remember the leverage you hold. They need your sale much worse than you want their car. It's still tough times for automakers. And although the civic is still practically selling itself, don't believe for a second that you still don't hold the leverage.

sounds like a pretty average price, nothing special. i'm sure you can find one for cheaper. i've heard of people buying si's for 19-20k otd on 8th civic w/o the navi.

i bought a brand new 2010 si sedan for 20700+ taxes title, so i jumped on that deal! so It might be better getting new, loan rates would also be lower for new cars instead on used.
I'm hoping I can get it for $21,000 OTD. I am not in a hurry since I have other options.
What state are you in?
His location says Chicago, IL.
He means on top of the $20,700. OTD means that's the exact price you pay including all the extra charges/taxes/docs/etc.
I know what OTD means. I wanted to make sure since I was talking terms of OTD since that's what the value you would pay for the car. I'm not worried about how much the car was sold for since different cities have different taxes and some dealers would over charge you on the fees hence why you talk in terms of OTD. I am using my phone so I didn't get a chance to see his location.

I just got lucky, the dealer closest to me had two 09 sedans, one w/nav and one w/out. They were both Redline Orange and the dealer really wanted them gone.
I think you'll like the sedan better, IMO. I bought my Si with the intent of keeping it for a looong time, so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't outgrow the car by getting a dog or having kids.
The Si coupe is kinda just another sporty coupe, but the sedan is a much more special car, balancing practicality and fun like a poor man's M5. And if you get it with NAV it's pretty luxurious and grown-up IMO.
