Default Need Help. Removing Lower Ball Joint from hub assembly.

hey guys, need some help with my 93 integra. I am trying to replace my lower ball joints and do not know how to remove the old damage ones from the hub assembly. What happen was, the threaded bolt part of the lower ball joint is smashed so the crown nut will not screw on. I already got the lower ball joint press to install the new on, but need help removing the old one. Is there any trick in doing it? I already removed the retaining clip. Help me out guys. Thanks.

u can take it to a shop and have them press it out, or just hit the crap out of it with a hammer till it comes out

take the hub off the car. put it upside down in a vise and beat the hell out of it until it pops out or just hit it on the bottom side and the hammer the new on in. that is what i did 2 weeks ago for a friend.

Yep beat the hell out of the old ball joint stud until it comes out, then make sure you have the proper press tool to press the new one in or you may damage the new ball joint

Thanks for all the help guys. I removed the whole assembly then gave it a few whacks, and what do you know..... it came right off. I did have a ball joint press rented from Autozone ($108 deposit). The new ball joint went in with no issue. To tell you the truth, you can sub the ball joint press with a good size c-clamp and a proper size piece of pipe. Ill probably do that next time i need to replace the lower ball joint on any other car. With 2 kids, i don't have $108 floating around. :D. Again guys, i appreciate the help.
