What is wrong with these???
A friend of mine bought an ITR head with ITR valves with all the exhaust valves looking pretty wack. All the intake valves look good with no build up but the exhaust valves had a hard substance which would not come off even after been soaked in a heavy degreaser for four days. Could someone tell me what happened to cause them to look like this and can they be cleaned and reused?

if you have a drill press lock the valve top into a drill press turn the press or hand drill if your feelin froggy on and press the bottome of the valve (dish part) into the steel wool , make sure the valve are wet with the simple green , purple power or what ever you use , keep a eye on it while you do it so u dont make it out of round or anything

well I carried the valves by a friend of mine to get them cleaned up. He said he did the best he could without taking off to much of the black coating the valves came with. Tell me what you guys think, and if the valve will now need to be grounded to reseat them?

I have done the drill press meyhod before and had great results.
Fuel deposits and oil are probably the root cause of the scal3.
If you tape off the stems with electrical tape you could get away with bead blasting them.
I wouldn't worry much about the coating on the valve.
