i have a del sol with a d16z6 and have a few questions if anyone can help... I have the tool and a little of know how and looking to get some hp out of the engine

1- the ecu is giving me CEL #22 witch is vtec pressure valve, right? were do i start to fix this?
2- the car already has camgear, fuel regualtor, intake and exhaust and i have a complete head from a y8 and a spare intake manifold like te one on my car right now, will it all work on my block?

recommendations are more than welcomed!!!!!!!

 

1. 22 is for the pressure switch. either its not hooked up or maybe the screen inside is dirty and its not seeing enough oil pressure to allow vtec to function.

2. you want to use a y8 head on your z6? why switch them over? they are almost identical. you could switch over the y8 intake manifold though because it does flow the best of all stock d-series im's.

 

Code 22 is the Vtec oil pressure switch. It might not be plugged in all the way, the actual switch could be bad, the wire might be fried or your solenoid is bad.

Use the y8 manifold. It's better than the z6 one.

Boost it. That's the only way to make any serious power out of a D.

 

maybe pistons? and what sould be the ideal fuel presure and camgear degree?

 

How much more power are you looking for? 3? 30? 300?

 

maybe kick up the engine to 150hp or so something in that range. its my daily driver so i cant go so overboard...

 

turbo it... 8lbs daily you should be good..

 

im not realy loving turbo... i like all-motor dont know why but i just do. Maybe in a future no that far ill turbo it but for know im just going to play with the engine for a while see what happens... thank you again!!!

 

well i took the tvec pressure valve of and the screen inside was not dirty and the cables and plugs are all ok, so it must be the pressure valve...

well then id say your switch is bad. if you know anyone with a swtich try swapping theirs out first.

 

yea either the switch is bad, or the wire going from the switch to the ecu is disconnected somewhere.

 

or it has poor oil pressure. does the vtec work? because if its got that code it shouldnt.

Just try swapping out the switch for a known working one. If that doesn't do it, trace the wire to see if it's broke anywhere. If that's not it, swap the ecu for a known working one. If not that, install an oil pressure gauge and pray that's not it... lol

got a friend to lend me the switch and finally it worked no more CEL... So next week ill go and buy the new one...

 

whats the best intake manifold for the car... or should i leave the factory one when i change the head

 

im going crazy... the CEL 22 is back but only when i first turn the car on, but when i trun it off and back on boom cel is gone... any sugestions?

 

make sure you have oil. you cant have oil pressure with no oil.
just check takes like five secs

 

yes it has oil...

 

Try unplugging the sensor before you turn it on and see if you still get the code. Also, check to see if there's any corrosion on the plug.

 

try reseting the ecu by removing the negative battery cable for 10 seconds. most lilely you have fixed the problem but the ecu has the code still stored in its memory causing it to pop back on
