If anybody out there is struggling with trouble code 91, or p0435, for the fuel tank pressure sensor on their Civic swap, and needs to pass emissions, that the trick to fool the ECU with a linear potentiometer indeed works. I picked up a pot from Radio Shack for $3, and wired it into the ECU, calibrating it to 2.5V, and was able to pass emissions testing like that. The CEL hasn't come back on, and I've driven almost 150 miles since installing the pot. A lot of people have said not to count on this method working to pass smog testing, but after actually trying it, I can say that it works flawlessly. If anybody out there is struggling with this issue right now, I can help you identify the pins you need to splice into, and how to calibrate the pot if you're a noob. Just trying to help fellow Honda owners, as they've helped me.

 

Yeah I did this too and managed to pass the BAR ref in California! This mod really does work!

um? u mean the link in post #5? yeah i did. it took me to some helpful information. i totally understood the options on how to fix it in there. i want 2 go with option 3...fooling the ecu. i understood how option 3 works but just don't no how 2 hook everything up properly. i need step by step instructions with pictures and materials used for option 3.

 

That's a pretty cool little thing. A lot of VW TDI guys wire in resistors and pots to "tune" their ECUs. I guess the ECU just measures voltage and "makes decisions" based on that.

 

a diy write up would be great!!! I do have a question though when hooking up the potentiometer did you wire it to your civics harness or to the obd2a-b jumper harness??? And since there is movement with the **** how do you get it to stay at the 2.5v?
