Sorry for such a dumb question guys . . I tried to search but didnt come up with the answer I needed. . .

My girl has a 99 HX automatic and the trans is destroyed . . can I use just any 96+ automatic transmission or do I have to find an Hx trans ?

I didnt know if the HX ecu was different and wouldnt recognize a cx/dx automatic trans . .

Any help is appreciated. Thank you . .

 

The HX auto have CVTs so you will need to get another CVT. The ECUs are different between auto/manual HXs and other Civic models.

 

Correct You must get another HX CVT tranny or swap in a 5 speed. Theres no ECU that will let you both run the vtec-e engine and control a regular automatic tranny.
