Default Hey quick question about my DC 4-1 headers..

hey just bought some DC sport 4-1 headers 2.5" piping off craigsist for 90$ straight up. came in pretty good condition.

Im gunna slap them on my 97 DB8 stock b18.

He told me that all i needed was to get a test pipe that was 2.5'' as well, and that it would fit just fine. But I went to a couple of muffler shops and they said I needed the donut gasket instead to put it on. Do test pipes come with the gasket included? and is it better to get a legit test pipe rather than the donut gasket?

Sorry this might seem like a noob question but im starting to build my engine now that the exterior is complete

Pics can come if needed....

I suppose you could run it without, but I would get the donut gasket...

The donut gasket is needed regardless of whether you use a test pipe or not, it is what seals the exhaust to the header collector. If your in a state with emissions testing then the test pipe is illegal and you will not pass.

x2

also you need to make sure your test pipe or cat has the correct flange to mate to your header w/ donut gasket.

see how the mating surface is round to accept the gasket vs. a flat cut flange and flat gasket?

You need a 2.5 inch donut gasket that will go on the header. Check to see it one is already on the header first. If not, go to Honda dealer or your local auto parts store and tell them you need a exhaust manifold donut gasket for a Honda S2000. It will fit perfect. The get a 2.5 inch custom made or adjustable test pipe, or a custom length cat with 2.5 inch fittings, whichever you prefer, and you should be good to Go.

i have some generic 4-2-1 header i got off ebay for 50 bux including shipping they have a 2.5 inch collector i was able to use the lead dome gasket that was on my existing factory header i think thats the dounut gasket your refering to it domes out small to big so it should still fit. i got my header hooked up to my cat i own a test pipe but my cat-converter was replaced already when i bought the car and they just lopped off the back of it and welded it to my piping..
it will be corrected when i do my exhaust.
but you should check yours too b4 you order one
