How to: All red taillights.
i was really bored today so i did this in under a hour.
i had a spare set of tails laying around for my db so i said "wut the hell. lets see if this works!"
tools needed.
razor blade tool.
red lens tape.
2 hands!
and be patient.
total cost. $6
1.clean the lens before you start.
the film wont stick if your tails are dirty.
2. I applied the tape along the bottom first.

i tried using soapy water under the tape, but it got messy. so i did it dry. lol
3.remove air bubbles.

4. now with the razor, trim along the outline of the amber lens.
Dont press to hard along the outline. you dont wanna screw up the lens.

5. Repeat step 2,3 and 4.
apply new row of film directly above previous.
is might overlap previous row. just be patient.

6.more triming

7. Repeat Steps 2,3 and 4
i did about 3 rows of film on each lens. you might use more or less.
Here is the finished product compared to previous.

any criticism is welcome.
good or bad!

Looks alright from a distance, but close up probably not so much. Somebody walking past in a parking lot would probably notice the tape and think "eww ghetto they need to fix those tail lights, why else would there be tape on it"

They also make vinyl patches that are large enough that you can use one piece. I did that back in the day...looked ok, not really noticable that they vinyl'd over but at the same time, I like the lighter color red on the surround on the 98+s.
From a distance it does look nice.
I tried to trim it to where It matches the original lines of the lens.
So up close u would only be able to tell if u were looking for the tape.
Some guy did this on the db squad forum and his looked nice.
I just did this to kill some time and if it looks decent and last a while, I'm happy.
And no it doesn't look pink.
I wouldnt wanna use paint cuz then I would be stuck with em that way.

Seems crafty. A for effort
I've actually seen this done and people trimmed the tape out to make it ''blend in'' better.. You can barely notice.

If you're on a budget, then this is a pretty good option if you can't afford the 98+ tails. I know when I had an extra set of 94-97 tails, I used the krylon red stain-glass paint...looked good but I knew it would dull being in the sun after a few months.....which the red lens tape might do. Either way, thanks for posting
