Whats a Oil Catch Can For???
The point of my redundant answer was to simply show the usefulness of the item in question is in the name... and of course that it doesn't increase horsepower.
It is used mainly through the PCV system.
For the blow by gas from the crackcase.
Along with the gas is a little bit of oil. The oil/gas travels through
the breather chamber, up through PCV valve, THEN
into the Intake manifold to be "recycled".
The Catch Can is often placed in between the Breather Chamber
and PCV Valve to catch the oil and prevent it from entering
the Intake Manifold. If you ever took your Manifold off an see the oil layer
inside, THATS what the Catch Can prevents! The more oil build up
the more restrictive your Manifold will be.
Hope that helps enough!
