auto to manual ecu conversion (with factory chip)
so i know in order to change an auto ecu to manual, i just remove rp17 and rp18 as well as jumping rp18 but i have an ecu with the factory chip that i removed, i replaced it with a socket but is there anything thing else i need to do?? the ecu came with all the resistors in place that you would normally add on a manual ecu so i would assume this is all i needed to do but ecu doesn't seem to work properly. please help!!!
that's all you have to do. but you do have to put a chip in the socket, factory chiped ECUs tend to not have maps in the MCU.
you have a USDM ECU with a factory chip? or is it a JDM ECU? (very different auto-to-manual conversion)

its a usdm, ok so im going through the traces with a multimeter to make sure im getting continuity and so far so good but there are a few places under the socket that appear to not have traces to anywhere...would anybody know how i could test these points? i know its asking alot but im hoping others would have researched this stuff.
its a 1720 board, and i found the missing traces on top of the board between the socket and they seemed to have continuity through them...although i found a few that i think needed a bit more soder. i will test it again to see if it works but if you find that i need to remove any more resistors from the board please let me know, ive searched everwhere and havnt found anything that says otherwise...
ok so ive found out that i pretty much suck at soldering and de soldering, i had to repair 3 traces on my board and it now works!!! thanks for the help guys.
