How to tell if its an ITR tranny or not?
There is this ITR tranny that's for sale that i want to buy but before i drive all the way there to get it i really want to make sure that it actually is an ITR tranny. What can i do to make sure that it is the same tranny as what it says it is. There is a vin plate on it. If i got the number from him could i run the vin number and see what that goes to? The sticker on it says its an s80 tranny. He also said that there is no lsd stamp on it. Did all ITR trannys have the lsd stamp on them? Please help me asap thanks everyone.
Only replacement ITR trans have LSD stamped on them. Carfax the VIN thats on the green plate and see what car it tell you it is. That information is free.
(Differential Revolutions)=(Input Shaft Revolutions)/((gear ratio)*(final drive ratio))

Hey guys. I got the vin# from the guy and carfaxed it and that vin is to a 97 gsr. He said that it has an lsd in it tho because the non lsd has a bar where the axle goes and this one is open. Is there anyway to like remove the bar to make it look like it has an lsd so you can sell it as a tranny with an lsd and get more money for it?
He sent me another picture of the tranny and vin number and it has a stamp on it that looks like it says V4D? Whats that mean?
Also, how exactly can i have him figure out what final drive is in it so i know? Please help me as soon as possible HT

With a hybrid transmission, you have to inspect. I mentioned above how to check gear ratios. An open differential will have a pin through the center.

Hate to bring this back to the top but my trans in my car I just purchased has a big "LSD" stamp on it, so I guess it was replaced at Acura like a friend told me. Maybe that is why the clutch seems to be a little soft. Hmm car only has 28k on it though...
