Default help with b16a swap wiring issues

okay i have searched and searched and searched ive gone threw every post in the civic subfourm so please dont bash me

anyways i bought an obd1 b16a for my 92 civic came with everything axles halfshaft shift linkage blah blah blah
he even threw in a ex wiring harness i thought this was all i needed to make this happen...
but when i try and plug everything up to the b16a using the ex harness alot of plugs are missing and alot of plugs dont have a home.
is there any car i can get a wiring harness from that will work? everyone keeps saying that the ex harness is plug n play but i really dont think so. do i have to get a jdm harness for the plugs and make my own harness????
please help and dont just say oh yeah just do some searching....

An EX harness will work just fine. Either You're doing something wrong or its not an EX harness. You will need to lengthen the IAT wiring and add the knock sensor wiring but thats about it.

If you have alot of extra plugs that dont have a home, you probably have an auto harness, which still works, just extra plugs that wont be used.

The EX harness will work.

EDIT: you'll have to run a knock sensor wire (connector to) to the ECU and extent a few other wires.

I just did an obd2 b16 swap into a 96 sedan, and there are several plugs that don't have a home. Could be for power moonroof, or door locks or windows if you don't have them. I was worried about the extra plugs at first, but after the swap was done, and everything on my car worked, I realized that those extra plugs are truly "extra". They shouldn't hurt anything. Are they located by the driver's kick panel and fuse box? That's where mine were.

5th gen civic automatic and manual engine harnesses are identical. The plug used for automatic transmission lockup/shift solenoids is used for the backup lights on the manual version, same plug, same wire colors, same pinout, same part number: 32200-SR3-A32. Its the cabin/underdash harness thats different.

6th gen civics are a little different, they use a 1 piece harness, still though the only extra plugs you should have would be for an automatic transmission (automatic and manual 6th gen civic engine harnesses are different) if you have extra plugs by the driver's side kickpanel it means you also swapped the cabin harness.

GS-R harness really isn't going to make it much easier. Honestly i'd like to see pics of whats going on, there should be almost no wiring using an EX harness.

OK, as far as plugs go, you need an integra GSR harness (94-01) for plug and play capabilities. all of the plugs will have its mate in the correct place (aside from the distributor if you use a 96-01 harness) your ex wire harness will work if you have ex injectors and EX disr=tributor but you will need to extend the o2 sensor wire because it is behind the motor vs on the headder next to the head on the ex.

i just swapped an LS into an EG and it was a 96 motor and kept the wiring harness. i just needed an obd1 ls ecu.

here is a good site to referance.

Could be a stupid idea, but are you sure you have the harness oriented correctly on the engine? The plugs should be there. If you haven't messed with them at all before they can be mildly deceiving. Start with the injectors and go from there.

If you use a '96 - '01 Harness you will end up needing to either cut and splice plugs or use an OBD2 alternator, distributor and injectors.

Again though, theres no good reason not the use the EX harness and I don't know what all this talk about using EX injectors is about. IF you really want to get technical D15By, D16Z6, and all B-series engines use the same injectors, all have the same flow rate.
