okay. so i closed my hood and the latch is open. and the cable fell off haha. so i THINK the thing with the spring that goes into the little hole. got stuck in there. cuz i slammed it.. anyway to get it open? please i need help ASAP. thanks h-t

 

if you're in a hurry search, there's tons of threads covering this.

 

you can try fishing a screwdriver through the grill if it will fit and try moving the lever like that, but usually that lever is shrouded from the front. You might have to take off your lower shrouding under your bumper and reaching up behind there. I hate Honda hood release cables. I'm on my third one already.

 

lol mine's on its way out! looked at an accord with a busted cable, it was F***ing impossible to open, best of luck to ya!

 

actually, I wrecked a 2000 SI about a year ago, and the release cable was severed in the accident. I was actually able to stick a 10mm box wrench up in there and remove all 3 of the bolts holding the latch assembly in place, and just opened the hood with the latch still attached. It worked, and I still had a bitch of a time getting the latch off. try that if all else fails.

 

i usually just take off the bumper when someone brings me a messed up civic hood latch, and use a screwdriver to pry the latch open and pop that springed part through
