rattle canning onto good factory primer?
Hi,
My friend has an 89 car with a metalic grey paint job. IT looks good, except all the paint has flaked off the hood. The primer is in good condition with, slick with no cracks, etc..
The thread below helps, must be 60+. This is even if the car is in the sun? It's supposed to get up to the mid 50's next wknd here in GA.
Wait 10 mins between coats.
The main sticky in here [everything you need to know...] says sand primer with 400 grit.
Maybe let the first coat be a tack coat? I want to use Valspar metallic indoor/outdoor enamel from Lowes. I've tested the color on a scrap piece of metal and it looks pretty close.
I've used a spray gun on fenders, etc. before so I have a little experience..
Is there anyhting else I can do to make sure this won't starting peeling up later leaving me with a Big Olde Mess!?!?1
Thanks!
edit: is there a good rattle can how-to somewhere, on this site or another. I couldn't find a good one..
