Default Mugen twin loop tail pipe $.02 opportunity

After doing my homework, I'm down to 3 muffler choices. The ever popular Apexi ws2 exhaust pipe seems like a good choice. I'm also considering the Mugen twin loop tail pipe or an ebay version replica. I have no idea why Mugen wants to charge >$900 for some metal but the sound is FREAKIN awsome.

I have seen just a few rants about the ws2 loosing sound quality pretty quickly. Most people say good things about it though. In conclusion my car is not a show car, would I be making a mistake by purchasing a twin loop pipe from ebay? I know first hand that ebay does offer some pretty crappy products. Any advice?

I had an OBX twin loop on my car. SOUNDED AWESOME! for about 4 months. It came apart inside and rattled like crazy.

I've never heard that. Mine sounds great after a year, and it seems to be holding up very well.

That's over 90,000 pennies. = 279,900 grams = 617 lbs of raw material
With that much raw material I can make about 30 mufflers since they weigh about 20 lbs a pop.
Is a Mugen muffler worth an arm and a leg? I'm not sure at this point.

For $110, I hope he wasn't going around telling people it was a real Mugen.

Any real one is over $900 just for the axleback, as seen on these links:

http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Me...&Store_Code=EM

For $110, he bought an ebay special and told you it was a Mugen.

YEAH I DONT KNOW WHERE HE GOT THAT PRICE FROM... I BOUGHT MY TWIN LOOP FOR 700.

AND ITS ONE OF MY FAV. UPGRADES. NOT LOUD FOR DAILY DRIVING AND NICE SOUND WHEN YOU PUNCH IT.

APPARENTLY FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD WITH THE MUGEN TWIN LOOP IS THAT THERE IS A VALVE ON THE INSIDE THAT ON LOW PRESSURE ALLOWS THE EXHAUST GAS TO GO THROUGH THE LOOP, BUT ONCE THE PRESSURE INCREASES THE VALVE OPENS AND IT PASSES RIGHT THROUGH W/O LOOPING. THEREFOR NEGATING THE LOSS OF POWER WHEN AT HIGH RPMs.

AGAIN, THIS IS ONLY FROM WAHT IVE HEARD ABOUT THE MUGEN TWIN LOOP.

Does anyone know if this is a fact? I'm assuming, that only the real deal would offer this feature.

I found an OBX muffler for less than $100. The quality looks bad and a price this low is a turn off. Here's the link.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-T...item23054de63b
I also found a ws2 for $240. I have a lot more shopping around to do. Any good twin loop brands out there. How does a twin loop style compare to a ws2. Why are twin loop mufflers so huge? Any fitment issues?

Yeah, if you find a seller that wants to get out of the game 110 is possible. I got mine for 100 flat. And a WS2 back section for 70.

This is BS. The reason why Mugen uses the twin-loop design is not so that there are two different possible ways to route exhaust gases. The twin-loop is a "noise-cancelling" design. Also, running the exhaust noise back into the muffler a second time makes it quieter. The only possible performance benefits of the design is maybe due to the longer exhaust piping used in the design. And of course... the larger piping, mandrel bends, and the overall build quality.

I just installed the obx twin loop yesterday and love it so far. The quality seems to be ok and the tip looks good. I have a 94 hb and it fitment is great.

Oh and the sound is great to. Just a tad bit louder than stock so if it does get louder over time then that will not hurt anything cause it's not loud to start with.
