Hello all,

I'm fairly new here. Been lurking for a few weeks. I just purchased a 96 Accord EX coupe a few weeks ago. I have just a couple of questions.

First, my sidemarkers (outermost lights) are lit when I turn my parking lights on, however, they do not flash when my turn signal is activated. I remember a friend's accord would have these lights flash and also alternate with the bumper signal when the lights are on at night. Is this correct?

Second, my passenger side door look seems to work intermittently. When it isn't working, I hear the actuator being activated but nothing happens. Any ideas?

If your talking about the rear sidemarkers on the rear bumper, those dont flash. But if you mean the fender sidemarkers, someone might have installed them themselves and just didnt wire them up to blink. Cause like myself, i dont even have the fender side markers and i know alot of cd owners just buy those aftermarket and hook them up themselves. simpilier wiring if you make it not blink

 

Maybe i should clarify. the sidemarker i'm referring to are the corner lenses next to the headlight. They have two bulbs. As far as I remember from my friends accord, one was a parking light and the other was a turn signal indicator. When I turn my headlights on, both bulbs stay lit, and nothing happens when i turn my signal indicator on.

 

take the bulbs out and check to see if each side has one dual filament bulb and one regular bulb. if they do and it still doesnt work, then try switching the bulbs around.

 

you are right the outer most bulb should flash. when the bumper light is on for your turn signals that bulb should be out and likewise if the bumper light is not illuminated at that moment then the one in the corner light should be on. check the grounds and look at the harnesses, if it looks like someone has done anything with the harnesses (like spliced wires in, cut any wires, or taped any wires) then get a diagram and compare it to yours. i have one for a 94. i believe its the same for 96's let me know if you need help with that

 

Hmm... just check another 96 accord and the sidemarkers don't flash. Can anyone confirm whats actually supposed to happen?

 

94/95 have smaller bumper turn signals and the corner lights flash

96/97 have larger bumper turn signals and do not flash, even though there are two bulbs.

I believe it was a visibility concern on the 94/95 and they increased the size of the 96/97 signals and removed the flashing corners.

 

I too had this same problem with my 96 accord ex....
Only the bumper lights flashed.. so the top ones are just for light? they dont flash... kinda seems pointless if you ask me

 

It's not a problem with the car, it's how it was designed.

They are your parking lights, not your turn signals.

 

Gotcha...... but i dont understand why they didnt reverse it and make the bottom the markers and the top the turn
