looking at a 92 accord lx, has a few problems looking for some hellp
Hey guys i stumbled upon a 92 accord lx with 123 thousand on the clock thats in good shape and i think i can grab it for around 450. the only catch is that the car does not always start when its cold, and it has a slight sputter when driven aggressively. its a 5 speed. anyone know what this may be? ive heard fuel pump or the relay, but is this a common problem? it has new plugs, wires, dist cap and the car runs fine when driven normally, thinking about just doing a compression test and if the numbers come up good ill buy it and ive it to a dealer to diagnose. ANOTHER quick question guys, when i do a compression test, what should be a ballpark number on a 2.2? didnt realize the extremely high resale value of these old honda accords compared to other vehicles.
yeah, the cb body style accords have one of the best resale values of old hondas. I have one myself and love it, great car to drive. For the price, its not a bad deal man, you really can't go wrong for $450. I've personally dealt with bad main relays causing a start issue in hot temperatures but not cold. check the oil and make sure its clean and not milky. Also compression will vary, just make sure all four cylinders are close to each other in numbers.
ya im thinking the guy may be on the slow side and its a bad battery wit low cca which is deffinitally a possibility. i really like these cars with a nice set of rims maybe 1"bigger than stock, clean for a 92. heard it could be a bad temp sensor?
well i went to check it out and the car is in GREAT SHAPE. paints great, body has no rust or even dings for that matter, just a small bubble on the rear qpanel. undercarriage is also rust free. car started right up but it was because the guy already had it going before i got there. i crawled under it and noticed the oil pan has a large indent on it from somebody jackin it up on it. how bi of a deal is this on these cars? i know on my 3000gt that if it had a dent like that it would be a major priority to get it fixed, but my 3000gt is also a **** so it may vary from car to car. apparently when its cold usually it just will crank over and not start until the battery is dead....and it has a new battery. im gonna buy it and give it to a local honda dealer to get straightend out. im thinking its the temp sender thats causing this.
