although i would not recommend going fast, and trying to .. so call power shift..
when you shift it out of gear and into the next one.. you might have to give it a little bit of gas. so that the rpm match the shift point..

Seriously, use your clutch pedal or buy an automatic..... ****, go look on the internet and research dogbox transmissions.
in all my years ive never seen or heard of shifting without using the clutch pedal.

OP, if you get a flux capacitor you can definitely shift w/o the clutch whenever you want/need.

lol you can shift with out it..but you def can not go fast while doing it. and its super worthless trying..like in my saturn i can get it up to about 2000 and let off pull it outta gear rev it up a lil and let it slide itsself back into second so on and so forth but its way easier to drive with a clutch..
i think thats why its there from the factory..idk i could be wrong thow..

I love my manual, I just watched a guy powershift is acura and did it perfectly, no grinding or stalling. Was just curious how it was done. I heard if done correctly at the right RPM's it doesn't hurt your transmission and is actually good for it (if done correctly obviously).

you go through all the gears until your in fifth going about 60 or so, then you push in the clutch, and pull it out of gear and throw it into reverse as hard as possible then release the clutch. or atleast thats how marty mcfly showed me

with clutchless shifting you accelerate normally to about 3500 rpm and pull it out of gear. the rpms will drop and try to put it into the next gear at around 2000. no gas needed or clutch. i've seen my brother do it countless times in my ej8 with no grinding whatsoever.
with power shifting, i tried it once or twice when i brought my ej8 to the drag strip and didnt like it. since i have a stock d16y8, i really see no reason to do it.

be lightening fast with the clutch do a clutch kick and time it perfectly with your gear change if you practice you will be very fast with it just a fast full kick when you shift it will be nearly as fast as powershifting but not as damaging and gear grinding

It's very easy to shift without the clutch, my dad showed me it when I was 17 and learning to drive stick. It's different on different cars, but 3500 is a good place to start. Give the shifter just a bit of back pressure as the rpms come down and it will pop out easily and smooth then hold it in the gate for the next gear and it should fall in. If it doesn't pat the gas a tiny bit and it will (you shouldn't have to though).
As far as I know, this does no damage to the clutch/trans as long as you aren't grinding gears. I actually pop out of gear all the time and coast in neutral when driving in a bunch of traffic or something. It's just a funny habit I have.

damage or no damage the clutch is there for a reason and not just for looks.

shifting without the clutch does a small amount of wear on the synchros. if its a daily driver then DONT DO IT, its not worth it. now there is another type of shifting which IMO is better for drag racing. you accelerate, when you get to your shift point your left foot should be on the very edge of the clutch pedal. keep the throttle on the floor, push in the clutch, shift, just as its going into gear you let your right foot slide off the clutch. BAM, you are in your next gear. the cobalt SS tranny is designed for this, its called no-lift-shift. on the cobalt its there so you dont lose boost when shifting. but it allows you to build more RPMS before the clutch engages which kinda pulls the car a lil more as the clutch re-engages.
this type of shifting(ive always heard it called speed shifting) wears your clutch a bit more....so again if its a daily driver dont do it.
racing transmission are designed to do this.......if you ever watch a nascar race at a roadcourse and you see an in car view......the driver is SLAMMING the transmission into gear cuz hes not using his clutch. those transmission have no synchros, they just have BIG dog teeth. and they are designed to be treated that way.
the way that works is he gets to his shift point, lets off the accelerator just a tad....enough to let the tension off the gears, then he pulls it out of gear and slams it into the next. then back on the throttle. shift complete and without using the clutch.
what most high level road racing cars use is a sequential transmission that has a lever, push it forward to downshift, pull it back to up shift. these dont use a cltuch to shift either.......up or down. watch ALMS or ROLEX series to see this. they just have this big lever where the shifter would be and they only push it forward and back.

i thought power shifting is where you dont take your foot off the gas? just hit the clutch and shift. but you have to do it fast. people used to do it back in the ricer days.
