Default katzenjammer84's 1992 Accord Restoration

This car is a money pit, replacing everything as it breaks. All it's life Arizona car, absolutely devoid of rust but definitely neglected and desert beaten. Will eventually be better than new, receiving H22A/5MT swap 6/11 and a full chassis/body down to metal respray 8/18.

Pretty **** picture but everybody knows what a stock Accord looks like.

And the car I will probably blatantly copy, a little dub influence in the style.

Hey, loving the idea for this build. Your "inspiration car" is straight Jessica-Simpson as well. I'd John Mayer it.

I usually don't try to sway people away from their decisions or plans for their car. However, this is a public forum, and by posting here, you did open yourself up to public opinion and scrutiny.

That being said, I would like to strongly encourage that you re-think spending $4800 on your paint job. With proper sanding and prep, your local Maaco could set that thing up right for $300 to $1200, at the most, and give you an excellent and professional paint job. You could then spend the other $3000 (wow, this sounds crazy even typing) on other things, like an engine swap, wheels, etc... and have the whole build practically done for the cost of your original paint allotment.

Either way, best of luck!

I appreciate the input. I trust the bodyshop however, they've been my bodyshop for all the cars that have passed through my fingers.

This includes doing all the door jambs, pulling all glass and trim, and bringing the entire car down to metal. It's a lot of work, and frankly for the effort he will be putting in he is cutting me a deal.

Maaco would scuff it, which given the age will not be durable. It needs to be brought to metal and reprimered. Like I said, it's essentially being restored, the right way.

I don't need crazy money for performance stuff, a set of a KW V2's and some widened D Window steelies are about it for this thing. The rest of my time is refreshing OEM equipment.

Going to metal I agree with. And from what I've seen, that's a decent price. Considering they are going from SCRATCH at that point.

As for those rims, those are Diamond Racing Wheels. They will run you roughly 3-500 dollars for the set depending on sizes, offsets, etc. His, chances are, are custom painted with that polished lip. But yea, have fun with it.

Little update.

Long story short the engine went. I ordered a JDM DOHC F22B along with a 5-speed manual transmission. Going to be swapping in the next few weeks, will probably end up doing a H22 head swap and a 'lil boost when she's out of paint.

Motor pulled, sold the F22B and am picking up a full changeover H22A/5MT from hmotorsonline instead. Will be done by 2nd week of June, then off to paint in August she goes.
