Default GC coilover top plate issue...

When doing my check up on my suspension, I end up finding that my "insulator bushing" in the top plate in front of my car were all broken...

I order new one from prothane but there're a bit smaller in diameter compare to the one that were supply with the GC coilover when I receive it when new...

The insulator fit ok with the 2.5 ID ERS spring. But when preload, the bushing dosen't fit properly... there's always a gap... Let's say I preload the shock and centered the spring right in the middle of the top plate, will it cause an issue?

Anyone had the same issue with top plate bushing "insulator"?

its not really a critical component. it just saves some metal banging on metal noises.

Well, What could have cause that kind of wear then... IMO it centered the spring around the shock...no?

Also what will happen if it move inside the top plate while on track or if I can't center it properly inside the top plate? Cause there's a good gap there...It won't affect alignement?

actually, what you see rubbing the sleeve is kinda natural. the spring doesnt compress completely like a cylinder. it does bow in and its hard to predict how much. but its kind of not a big deal either way. i know it looks ugly, but i've never been bothered by it much. ive seen it happen to mine as well, but not as badly as yours.

contact eibach and see what their official word is. or ground control. but i bet youll find more knowledgable people if you call eibach...

its not going to affect anything driving wise. no change in alignment, no bad effects.

Trust me it's not about beauty! I'm more concern about security, tire wear and proper funtioning... I don't like been concern when commited at high speed...

Is it possible to buy just the sleeve from GC if it go worst... For now it's the upper part that. I don't really use it but if it continue to rub... It might affect the sleeves strengh...

But I appreciate your imputs
