Crx B16A S1 JDM or USDM
I need help on finding out what kind of tranny i have on my b16A i recently bought the car the guy said he's not sure if its a jdm tranny or no? anyway i can find out what kinda tranny it is?
does it have the sticker on the tranny still or no? most of the time when swapping b16s in a crx or ef hatch the shops usually shoot you the y1 tranny i think if you were to ask for an s1/j1 itll cost a lil more since the y1s came originally with the jdm ef8/ef9
if your going all motor & want super short gears get the jdm s1/j1. if you already have it kool! if you got the y1 it has a 4.2 f.d & the s1?j1 has a 4.4 f.d. the s1/j1 trannys have the same gears as the hydro b16 trannys its just in a cable form & its easier for us who have the older cars. your rpms will be higher & it was cut your gas miliage but its worh it. the decisions yours
Nope!
If you are going all out, the BEST cable b series tranny, hands down- vtec YS1
Found in usdm 1992-93 Integra gsr's and jdm Xsi model (some had the lsd option)
They are the best in so many ways! Besides being the newest, they were least known for grinding issues, if parts were needed, they can be had at any Acura dealer, the gearing was the best, basically the same as an ITR gearbox, it also shared the same size internals as the newer hyro style tranny's along with the larger main shaft (1992-01)
