new del sol but wont move!! need help
ok guys i met a guy today who is set to deploy in a couple of days and gave me his del sol, yes gave it to me for free i just paid for the $30 reg fee anyways it starts, idles, and overall runs fine engine wise but wont move, no matter what gear its in it does the same thing he was saying he thinks its the wheels bearings but im unsure... with the engine on in makes a rattling noise like the axle is spinning but not catching with the clutch pushed in it makes no noise at all, with it out even in neutral in makes the rattle... any ideas???
any help is greatly appreciated!
also this is a 94 5spd European spec del sol with a D16 in it

he said wheel bearing but this is on the front so im really confused??? i just need to take a look for myself then go from there i guess
All 4 wheels will have bearings. To check them jack up the car and shake the wheel back and forth and up and down. If there is looseness then the bearings could be bad. If the bearings are not loose then drive it and see if they are noisy. If they are noisy then replace the noisy one(s).

also while its loosened take off the nut and put a socket backwards on top of the threads and hit it with a hammer it should pop back in no prob be careful no to hit the nut while its on the threads it will screw them up and u will need new axles
UPDATE: i havt had time to check the axle but i started the car today and when the car is in nuetral i hit the gas i see the speedo is rising even in nutreal???? still makes the grinding sount with the clutch out, with the clutch in the noise goes away... now im thinking its the TOB any ideas????
The speedometer is moving because the differential is moving, but if you're axles aren't clipped it then you won't go anywhere. It will also make the grinding noise as you have said. So check your axles then let me know.
like i been sayin bro the axle just fell out the only reason its grinding is cause its not totally clipped in ez fix , make sure u loosten the big *** bolt in at the end of your cv axle then give that ***** a hit with a hammer n a piece of wood
also since u got the car for free you could, go buy new axles and make sure they pop in then you know for sure its in right, and u got the car for free 110 bux n u got new axles with a lifetime warrant at autozone and its only 2 hrs worth of work if that
yea the only reason its not moving is cuz one side is popped out, u also have to put fluid in the tranny b4 u drive it cuz u might be low since it popped out.. it will still read speed, happened to my old car it wuz a 10 min fix
hmm not sure ill look, so i checked it and im pretty sure its the axle now lol i got under the car and shaked the **** out of it and it was all over the place! plus the rubber boot was all torn up.... still weird-ed out about the neutral thing
bro just change the axles n the car will drive, simple as that autozone has them on lifetime for 50-65 bux a side
i wish lol im stationed in germany we dont got no autozone but im pretty sure a friend has a spare i can have hopefully well find out after this weekend
The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is on the transmission/differential. If you have the car in gear and rev it up, the speedo will climb because technically the vehicle should be moving. But, that is assuming that the axles are installed correctly!
thats the thing it does it while the car is in neutral and not in gear IDK
