well i got a new alternator today put it on and my battery light went off turned it off started it up about 10 min later it started right up but then the light came back on and my car started to die and want start now does anyone know whats wrong thanks

 

have you checked the battery? possible that the battery is no good. also check your battery cables, make sure they are in good condition and securely on the battery.

 

would the battery cause the car to die i thought it ran off the alternator

 

well no, the alternator supplies the battery with power when the car is running. So do this, start the car, and take a voltmeter across the battery posts and monitor it. It should stay around 12ish and not drop suddenly or violently as longas you keep the same draw on the engine, meaning dont suddenly turn the a/c on or something.
