Clutch Master Issues 99 Accord EX
Greetings, this is my first post.
I just recently bought a 99 Accord EX 2.3L from my cousin for $2000.00 after he lost interest in it after he did some (somewhat) minor body damage to it. Since I bought it I've replaced: the timing-belts and tensioners, water pump, standard tune-up, (cap, rotor, plugs and wires, etc), some nice(relatively) rims and good tires, and since I had to replace the hood and front bumper and do some work to the driver's side fender, I went ahead and got a complete ground effects package, as well as what I needed to complete the body-work. I also replaced the poor, aging stock door-speakers and rear 6x9's with some Pioneer A-series (not the greatest, but definitely a step-up...next a new amp and sub).
Now, my Clutch Master Cylinder is leaking. Here's my problem. I've now gone through three different parts stores and they all keep ordering me the wrong part. The closest I came to getting one that fit, was one that worked in all ways except that the hole on the master-cylinder for the flange on the hydraulic-line was slightly too shallow.
After doing some research I found out that Honda discontinued the use of the clutch master-cylinders with the plastic housing since they proved to be troublesome...so they are now aluminum housing. Upon looking for the part online, I found this, which is quoted from the parts listing :
The original master cylinder for this vehicle was plastic-bodied, which has proved troublesome and is no longer offered by Honda. This aluminum-bodied cylinder is the correct replacment, but other modifications of the clutch hydraulic system may be necessary if the master cylinder on the vehicle is a plastic-bodied one. Please contact your Honda dealer for more information.
Anyone familiar with this issue and the easiest way to remedy it, other than taking to Honda?

Well...I found out that Honda completely redesigned the entire system and the kit that replaces it is $457+ ...the plus side is that while it was at the dealer I had them do a recall check, and they ended up fixing two issues, the ignition switch and idle adjustment screw...
Well there ya go.
Did you end up getting them to replace the "clutch system"?
What was it they replaced?
I assume the master, lines from the master to the slave, and the slave?

Well....its pretty much the entire hydraulic system; Clutch Master Cylinder Assembly, Slave Cylinder, Damper Tube Assembly (hydraulic line), Connector Clip, X-Rings, and Connector Pin. $457.30 after tax...and since it's such an easy install, I'm just gonna do it myself.

If by free you mean the ignition switch and idle adjustment, then yes it was free...
as far as the hydraulic items are concerned, they definitely will NOT do it for free...that I'm gonna do, hopefully this weekend.

thanks for the reminder
