90 EF build thread.
So as some of you may have read/seen pictures this is my first Honda. I've built a few cars in my day.... 88 Feiro GT (3.8 s/c swapped), 90 IROC-Z Camaro (mullet was sold with car), 87 Z24 Cavalier hard top, 90 Cavalier base coupe, 88 Pontiac Sunbird GT Turbo (factory boost), 97 Cavalier LS Sedan (2.4L that laid oil pan. I was on air ride), 1997 S10 (5/5 drop old school billet wheels), 2005 Scion xB/bB (currently have, as daily driver until the end of the month), 1987 Cavalier Z24/RS Convertible. (project. Profited $200 off the car). And now I am on this 1990 Hatch.
Purchase price: $1150
Purchase Date: 2/1/2010
d15b2 with manual trans.
Things I've fixed, or am currently in the process of fixing. Turn signals were not functioning. (fuse), now working cigg lighter (rewired/fixed), Hatch filler piece not on (studs broken, going to fix when it gets a little warmer). Radiator leaking (fixed with new radiator).
Problems I've uncovered or have had in the one week I've owned it... Code 4 Code 6. (waiting on dizzy to arrive, code 6 will be fixed when the dizzy gets here. I haven't looked at it, but I am going to replace the sensor anyways since it's only $15, then make sure the wiring is still good. Fan not wired in to anything, so I've wired the fan to a on/off switch until I can trace down the factory fan switch. o2 sensor was "questionably" wired, so not having the factory wire clip I've got a "quick splice" to connected the two wires until I can go to the junk yard and get a clip to solder on.
Modifications so far:
SI MPFI swap
SI Transmission
Generic coilover sleeve kit
catless exhaust with flowmaster muffler.
Fiberglass fenders (bleh)
Plans:
Fix, make it more proper for me, drive....
Part list to come:
*D2, Standard, or KSport Coilovers. (proper ones, not a sleeve kit over factory shocks like it came with)
*Broke dick racing weld in 4pt. Cage
*Wheels. Not sure exactly yet, maybe Axis OGSans or Drag DR20's (too poor to be hella jdm)
*New axles
*OEM or JDM fenders *unsure*
*Maybe a flat/satin white paint.
*Big maybe on b20 or just a dohc zc motor swap*
Photo time! (my favorite part, because I love doing photography)
First few days after bringing it home, running into a few issues, but at least it was driveable then...

^^My buddy Yuki brought those back from an AutoZone in Japan.

^that could end up being as "mad tyte jdm yo" I get... Besides Green Tea KitKats. Oh man, so good. lol. (see below)

And before I went to lunch with my lady friend Tiffany I snapped a pic of the two cars together.
Here's an HDR of how I started my day after work... Digging the damn thing out of snow:

And after I was able to get into/out of the car with out dragging in 1ft of snow with me, I removed the rear interior lower plastics/carpet/seats.

As you can see, it needs the attention of a wire wheel. So I am going to take it to my friend Codys garage were he is building his s13/sr20 powered drift car, to address that issue. After I leave there, I will be added a little por15/chassis saver to it, to prevent the rust from ever happening or coming back!
So that's all I've got for now. I'll be cleaning the plastics I removed tomorrow, and may toss them up on Craigslist for sale. I don't think I'll be running much of an interior. I may build some sheet metal panels for the back to cover up the pockets in the inner shell. Just depends on time/money.
Shall update when I do more.

Nice Bro, I Like That Color. The Only Thing I Dont Like Are The Fenders, But Everyone Has Opinions, Keep Us Updated, I Have A Build Thread Going Too. Mine Is The One Titled "88 HF B16 Build"
So those Fenders, I hate. I'll repair them, and sell them to someone locally or trade them off for some OEM's. BUT they are doing their job as far as covering the suspension, and making the car look complete, so I can't complain too much. At least for the most part, they line up with the body. haha.
The replacement Dizzy shouldn't be here until Thursday (unless USPS is on top of their ****, in which I HIGHLY doubt).Probably tomorrow I'll have a pic of my parts removed pile and start cleaning them up.
Also thinking about tucking the wires in the rear of the hatch. Normally things like that don't bother me. But being as I am about to move, I'll probably have a little less money since I will more than likely be paying a higher amount of rent.
Alright, so after 2 nights of anger, frustration, and what not, I've got it running again! So happy. There is a bit of a miss in the middle of the RPM band, but that is just needing to fine tune the timing. I set it just at idle, gave it about a 20 minute run around the city (trying to avoid as many cops as possible because they just LOVE bright colored cars with really loud exhaust). Felt like a new car again, and it was nice to be able to get on the throttle some, and it not cut out...
And what's a test drive, with out a pic?

(2 different pic, edited 2 different styles.)
The gloomy one is to represent the fight over getting it to run again. lol
