Default 2006 Civic EX Mods

Whats up yall? New to the group... and liking it so far. I have been doing quite a bit of research here and on other forums and I have found an exorbitant amount of information pertaining to the SI Civics but sadly, not as much on the DX-EX models. I got my ego hurt this morning when I was driving my wife's bone stock 06 Civic EX and got my behind handed to me by some lady in a Hyundai Veracruz who probably wasn't even trying. So I got the itch finally and I need this car to be faster. Shy of nitrous, what else is offered for this engine to wake it up? I was looking at exhaust systems but they don't offer a header that I could find.

What brands and suggestions do yall have. I am more knowledgeable of the Mustang aftermarket, hence the screen name, but I drive this Civic fairly often and it needs a swift kick in the behind.

Lets hear the suggestions.

Thanks

the best brand for honda is Skunk2 but they dont manufacture performance parts for 06 ex just si, but for a 06 ex the only things i know that can be done is intake, headers, exhaust and lowering spring and from all those mods your gonna gain what 5hp

skunk2 makes just about everything for the non-si that they do for the si.

So there IS a header out there for it? I will have to check out Skunk 2. I have never heard of them. I knew of DC Sports, HKS, etc. What about tuning wise? Does Hondata make anything for this car or does anyone offer stand alone handheld tuners for them?

Thanks for the input.

I just looked.. they dont offer a header for that car. Shame. I bet they could actually make some power with some tuning and parts.

Thanks for the tip. Found one! Interesting design. Question is now... is it worth putting a Hi-Flow Cat in there and/or how would tune out the downstream O2 sensor from throwing a CEL?

Opting for the HFC would depend on you local/state emission's laws. As for preventing a CEL, get a defouler for the sensor (which is an extension to space the sensor from the port), also found on the corsport site.

How accurate are those defoulers? On my stang I used a "MIL Eliminator" that went inline on the O2 sensor harness. Do they offer those as well or is the defouler pretty much standard operating procedure?

Thanks

all the defouler is is an extension so your O2 sensor sits farther back so it can get less of a reading

So i guess they are pretty accurate, in that I mean, they don't end setting CE lights. Does anyone have any dyno results for the header and full exhaust on these cars? I am interested to see what kind of gains they may see. Not expecting a heck of a lot.... but something would be good.

Thanks

I think Megan Racing makes a header, exhaust, & suspension parts for the R18 engines. For intake, get a K&N, IMO.
