What do you guys think of this Idea?
Okay Me and a buddy were standing around looking at my engine bay and my battery that gets so hot it boils over. I was saying that I am going to move it to the hatch and get a closed cell battery neways and we were thinking of what to fill the hole with. Well we came up with putting an intercooler in there and put a scoop on the hood so air is forced down on to it. Also the air comes up from where the cold air intake piping would usually go on a NA car, plus my other friend noted that we can pull the headlight at the track and have more air over it then to. So what do you guys think? this is for my 90 CRX Si ZC Turbo
And there is tons of room once the battery is gone....I will measure it this weekend so you guys can tell me if I can fit a large enuf IC to make it worth while
My friend who also frequents this board use to have 91 civic si with a zc and had an intercooler from a volvo fit right where the battery used to be.He took the passenger side headlight out for races but cruising around town it was a total sleeper.

I had a probe GT intercooler with a hole cut in my hood and a scoop to force air down into the I/C. Ill tell you straight up that it wasnt efficent at all. If you wanna hide the fact that you have a IC get a front mount and paint it black.
looks like how am going to be running mine (setup just like that on my spare block). What kinda fuel management are you running and does the intake temps get too hot and cause detonation?
your battery boils over???????
i would check your alternator! do a charge test.....sounds like your over charging the battery.

How do you do a charge test? I figured it was just b/c its getting so friggen hot under there.
I am only using a FPR (not even FMU) as fuel mangement and the plugs are not showing any signs of detenation. But I am wanting to take my setup to 10psi and I am going to need a FMU now....

Dude you deep in the ghetto. Get out while you can
YOu need to really go over some problems with your car. You have a battery that boils over?? WTF.... You arent running an FMU with stock injectors??? WTF..Come on man, get your **** together.

go to crappy tire or any automotive shop and they will have a little unit that can test the charge....I WOULD bet my OWN money on it that its your alternator causing your battery to boil..its overcharging.
daymn! i never really knew it was that tight in those EF engine bays. You practically have no room for anything...
Ok... well now i know.. hehe
