help figurin out crank sensor
ok ive got a small problem...me and my buddy built a min me wit a b2 bottom end and a y8 head and dizzy and my bussy said the reason it want crank is because th obd2 has a crank sensor on the block and the obd0 has it n the dissy is this true and if not help me out.... thanx for the help
From having an crank sensor issue on my hatch (d15b2 with si mpfi and td02u dizzy) I was researching if I could just buy the crank sensor, vs. the entire dizzy sub assembly. Turns out you can buy just the sensor on newer model Hondas, and not the older model (like ours). So I am going to say that yes, the newer blocks have the crank sensor in them, and I know that the obd0 dizzy's are built with crank sensor.
Should be just a bit of re-wiring the crank sensor to make it work. But I am not a techy like a lot of people around here are.

At first I was only able to rev to about 3000-3500K (judging by sound), and if I got up to about 60-65mph all hell broke loose and it was like driving a car running on fumes. Now it's to the point where it doesn't even start. Just cranks and cranks, but feels like it's going to catch and fire once in a great while. Codes 4 and 6. (crank position sensor and coolant temp sensor).
your car is converted to mpfi right? Have you done the wiring for the conversion on the dissy? if not that is your problem. If you are is converted to mpfi and obd1 you should use a obd1 dissy and wire from the ecu to that. Same with obd0
In my case, I am not 100% sure, but it ran fine for 2 days (I purchased it with the swap done), then on the 3rd and a half day, I developed the problem on the way up 275 in ky. *hell you've probably seen my hatch on Craigslist or CSR when it was for sale* SO I am just guessing the bearing went out on the dizzy, and fried the sensor over the few day's I drove it with out knowing that was the issue. (new to Honda's.) But from what I checked, the wiring looks proper, with PM6 (i think that's right, going off memory) ecu, and a td02u obd0 dizzy.

OP: you're buddy is misinformed. as i just mentioned above, the obd0 and obd2 dizzy's both have CKP sensors in them. the obd2 engine's did have CKF sensors on the oil pump, however this is irrelevant to you because i highly doubt you are using an obd2 ecu. your problem i'm going to bet is that you are trying to use an obd2 dizzy with an obd0 ecu, which you cannot do. obd0 and obd1/2 dizzys are different internally. the amount of teeth on the reluctor wheels differ and therefore send different pulses to the ecu. an obd0 ecu can not decypher an obd1/2 pulse, and vice versa.
your tow white wires are backwords bro.. switch them i had the same issue..
unless you have a obd0 ecu and a obd1/2 dizzy.
if your running a obd1 ecu like you say make sure you got obd1 dizzy to.
your obd0 88-91 dizzy will not work.. it will only rev to 3k and crap all over the place..
and it wont like reving to 3k..

HE WIRE TUCKED THE SERVICE CONNECTOR?? and if your using an obd 0 ecu then you can just watch the flashing red light on top...if you have an obd 1 ecu then wheres your jumper? it has the 2 service wires to connect
