Default is it really possibly my civic 01 getting 19 mpg?!

im at 256 miles and the meter is right about to touch the red line.

since civic01 holds 13.2, and 256/ 13.2, its about 19 mpg!

the only mod i have in it is a short ram intake, can that possibly be the problem?

should i put back my old stock intake?

prior to you having the short ram intake on your civic, did your mpg drop after you put that on or just happen all of a sudden?

well i never really tried calculating my mpg because i'd always put in 5 bucks of gas when ever, but this is teh first time that i've driven with a full tank AND letting it go all the way down so i can figure out how many mpg i actually get.

you could just fill it up again and divide the number of miles you went by how many gallons you put in the tank to refill it. I can go about 100 miles after my car hits the E.

Tire pressure is a factor, but it wouldn't effect your mileage that much.

When is the last time you've done any maintenance? Air filter? Spark plugs?
How well does it idle, or drive?
Do you ever smell gas while the car is running? (or while starting)
Any MIL (check engine light) or stored codes?

The easiest way to calculate gas mileage:

Wait until your gas light comes on, then fill the tank with exactly 10 gallons.

This way, when the gas light comes back on, all you have to do is divide by 10 (move the decimal over 2 spaces).

Easy.

i get on average 32-34 mpg.

when your gas light comes on you have about 2.6 gallons (10 Litres) or 1/5 of a tank left.
The best way to measure your mpg is to fill up your car, drive a few hundred miles, fill the car up again, the divide the amount of miles on the trip meter by how much gas you just put in to top it off.

My gas light finally came on.

It took 11.583 gallons to fill my tank. With 436.8 miles on the trip meter, that averages out to just under 38 miles per gallon. (37.7104377 to be exact)

I can't imagine his car only averaging 19 miles per gallon without having obvious, major problems. Even running poorly it should do better than 19 miles per gallon.

Any update, OP?

unless the driveris doin 90 on the highway everywhere.. if your punching that pedal and not shifting til 5500 that can be a factor.. but primarily check for exhaust leaks

You calculated the mpg wrong, you didnt use all 13.2 gallons...Fill your tank up full, reset the trip odometer, go drive around. When you need to fill up again, go back to the same pump and fill your tank up again. Take how many miles are on the trip odometer divided by how many gallons you just put in.

When I say full, i mean you put the pump on automatic and when it stops its full.

Who is this directed towards?

Regardless .. driving your car until you run out of gas, just so you can calculate your mileage, is simply

It doesn't matter if someone only puts in five gallons at the pump, or nine gallons.

If you reset your trip meter after each refuel, and then divide the miles by gallons used when your light comes on again... there's your average MPG.

Ah. I suspected as much, but felt the need to say something anyway.
