I know it was pretty cheesy but I couldn't help myself.
I could never live a place like that, no offense. I'm just not a cold weather guy. That does not look like fun at all.

Haha well welcome to L.A. Hopefully you'll like it. It's not for everybody, but I love it. Born and raised here and couldn't see myself ever leaving voluntarily. It's worth the crazy smog laws and taxes.
IDK about you getting around the smog laws though. I heard something about that on the local news a few months ago. They said a lot of people who move here from out of state try to get around paying for the obscene CA registration fees and smog laws by not changing their plates. I heard they changed some law this year so that if you move here you have something like 3 months or something to register your car in CA. I'm not 100% sure so don't hold me to it, but I'd check it out if I were you.
Just a warning, the fees are a bitch. I went to the DMV not too long ago to renew my uncle's registration on his 2006 Tundra, I think it was around close to $400. That's insane. I pay about $70 or so for my 92 Civic.

And for the delware photo gdamn! Hahaha we have snow drifts here 6 feet tall... im raisin my car tomorrow because south jerseys gettin another foot tues/wed. KEEP THE PHOTOS COMIN!!
Once upon a time I did my first motorswap in my garage and destroyed the floor with coolant and oil. Since then I've been banned from even the driveway. Parking in the street FTL
Yeah I was out there a few weeks ago and my friend was telling me about it. Im movin there in sept for a few years because im going to mi in hollywood. Even if I wanted to, htf would I make my turbo single legal? How do you guys get away with swaps!? I hear all these horror stories about impounding and confiscating cars because of emissions....
The worst I've personally heard is someone getting a ref ticket, in which case you'd have to take your car to the state ref and he tells you what you need to do to make it legal. Most guys have to pull their motors and go completely back to stock, which is a bitch. I think the ticket can be somewhere between $300-$1000+, depending on what the ticket is for.
I know once I got pulled over by the LAPD and it was a ref ticket for a non-CARB intake. The speeding ticket plus the ref ticket was about $530. I had a choice to either pay the fine and not have to go to the ref, or go to the ref and pass and they'd swipe the fine. I knew the ref would get me for my JDM B16 so I chose to just pay the fine.
Trust me, how bad could it be? You know how many swapped Hondas there are out here. There wouldn't be so many if there wasn't a way of getting around some laws. As far as having to smog your car every other year, most guys who know they wont pass, like me, get the test done illegally. Pretty much we pay about $100-200 for it to pass, when a regular smog is about $60.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure your car doesn't draw too much attention. Make sure you have a quiet exhaust that looks somewhat stock. Try not to have some crazy wings and lips and make sure you're not too low. And most importantly, don't drive like an *******. Cuz that's when the cops are the biggest ********. Most of them don't pull you over just for fun. It's usually cuz they see you doing something dumb.
We do have a garage. But we don't use it during the winter. Think about it, more cars on the driveway means less snow on the driveway. We can dig out the cars, drive them out on the street, and drop the snow there. We had four cars in the driveway, def cut our shoveling time by alot.
everythingwentblack, how you get around those laws... Dont even get a CA drivers license stick with ur NJ one, an dont change ur add. or get a PO box. if you get pulled over say ur visiting, they cant tell you that ur not. I live in San diego, an bout to have my car registered in AZ so i can mod the hell out of it, an because i've already been ref'd once for turbo next time they'll take it. Fawk cops!
