1998 Accord EX-V6 Transmission Nutralising?
I have a 1998 Accord 3.0 V6 and when im driving the transmission seems to nutralise when shifting. For example when driving it will shift out of 1st gear and right before it shifts out of 2nd gear the rpms will move up and it feels as if it is going into nutural. It shifts into every gear it just feels as if there is some hesitation that should not be happening. The trans fluid has recently changed and im wondering if i should do a compleate change of the fluid in the transmission system, including the torque converter and transmission cooler. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I would not say that you need a completely new trans, but that is an option. OP, you can rebuild your trans or you can get a remanufactured trans to fix the problem. However you should look into Honda's TSB for those automatic transmissions. There was quite a large issue regarding the V6 automatics in that era.
A properly rebuilt trans should last for more than 100k miles. However, I cannot say exactly how long since I replaced my automatic with a 6speed manual. I know there are a few users on here that have replaced their autos so you may have to search a bit to see their responses.
Alright thanks for the help. Also if you knew since the transmission i have now is a 4 speed auto would i be able to replace this with a new 5 speed auto transmission like from a different car?
