Default Any first hand experience with Canton Road Race Oil Pans?

I just ordered a 98-spec ITR swap from HMO and Ill be starting my first season of racing in March. Mainly SCCA Time Trials but I will likely squeeze in a few Autocrosses.

Im looking at the Canton Pan and want some first hand thoughts from those who have used one. Its only $30 or so more than the Moroso 20910 and it appears to have a better baffling/trap door configuration.

I had a Canton Oil Pan on one of my B18/B20 Motors. Leaked all around the flange where it bolted to the Block, I had to cut corners off the mounting flange so it wouldnt touch the Flywheel. I gave it away in the end. I hope the quality has improved since then?
For rhe B Series always go for the Moroso 20910... Never had a problem.
FWIW

I searched and all I could find is the standard Moroso pan. I PM'd a sponsor asking about pricing for the 20910. Summit has them for $250ish.

Thanks for your input Kiwi. Im not prepared to pay $300 for a pan that requires the flange to be modified and still have sealing issues. Ill opt for the 20910.

I have a Moroso on my GSR and there are pin holes in the welds in about 6 spots. Hondabond fixed it though.

Yeah, I havent heard many good things about the 20911. However, as Kiwi posted...the 20910 is a quality oilpan.

I was curious if the Canton was any better.

I hope the D-series ones don't have that problem; I don't think Moroso makes the D-series pan anymore?

Thanks for your input. I see the extra $100 or so dollars spent on the extra capacity, baffling, and trap door configuration as cheap insurance though.

Does your friend roadrace with that pan? If so, has he ever experienced any oil pressure/starvation issues?

Sounds good. You should do a comparison of the 20910 and the 20911.

I have the canton 5 quart for the d-series. I have no complaints with mine, little tight for stock gaskets where the end seals are. The pan is for a zc motor though, i believe, and i have never tried a gasket for that year honda. I had to swap out for that year pick up though. I'm happy with it, never seen the moroso up close though.

Don't you need the Canton pick-up also for the D-series pan? I was under the impression that all D-series pans were interchangeable so long as you use the correct corresponding pick-up.

I have a Canton for my D-series and the pick-up I got with it (directly through Canton) was Identical to the stock honda pick-up. I had to wait forever to get mine and when I did the drain plug was leaking. Other then that I'm very happy with it.

I ws there today. I did a tour of the complete shop and how they do their R&D. Its very simple and they want to expand into the imports more but they do not know what bare blocks to get so if i hear from them within the week ill have the job and im gunna try to get them into the import scene a little more. They want to expand but they know domestics over anything. If they can find a bare bones (blown) k series, H series, J series, 2JZ, ETC. They have the facilities to expand. They have alot of space to build and alot of good machinery so yea. I will deffinitely look into the comparison for you if i get the job. And 99% chance if you call for tech/customer service it will be me speaking to you!

Nice pricing for the B-Series, but have you seen the pricing on D-Series pans, they used to be 2x as much!

I'm a big fan of the 5.5qt baffled moroso pan. Simple, strong and it works good.
