i attempted to prime my fully built 14 month money pit of a type r today and i disabled the ignition and did about 3 intervals of 10 seconds of engine cranking and stopped for the night at the sight of no movement on the oil pressure gauge or oil light goin off.
brand new pump. blocked oil squirters. no oil in the oil filter after this.
EDIT: using straight 30w and its 40 degrees in my garage so i know that will add to cranking time.
didnt wanna screw anything up so i stopped
HOW LONG DOES IT NORMALLY TAKE TO SEE OIL PRESSURE ON A NEW ENGINE?
thanks, doug

i dont think the oil gauge is going to move depending on where u mounted it from
just start it up for 2 seconds and see if it move, u wont get zero oil pressure problem u may just get low pressure but im pretty sure if u did everyhting right ur fine
seeing as this has cost u alot id take some precaution though. dont just take my word.

I primed mine on three built engines for what seemed like DAYS. Just do the 10 second interval thing for about ten times. When I did it, the oil light never went out until I actually started the vehicle.
The oil pump can only go on one way, I'm sure you'll be fine once you actually start the car. Just make sure you have somebody watching under the hood for massive leaks and keep an eye on the oil pressure light. If it doesn't go out withing five or so seconds, shut it down!!!

if not than do shut it down..
the motor should not be at 0 oil psi at idle
you may want to take your engine to 2000rpms
and see if it build any pressure that way
