93 delsol b16A->b18cGSR swap questions: manifold, trans, motormount, ecu, CA SMOG???
So I am in the process of replacing the B16A engine in my 93 Honda Del Sol. I decided to get a B18C GSR. But after researching I am trying to answer these questions.
1.) Do I need a new manifold, ECU, motormount, and transmission for the car? or can I use the old ones. and are there any serious problems that this might cause besides the decrease in torque for the old 1.6L ECU?
2.) Is this swap legal in CA for my 93 del sol? And do I have to install the p72 ECU in order to pass, or can i just use the ECU for my B16A? What about any of the other components I mentioned?
I don't know a lot about car engines or parts so this is really confusing for me to figure out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:)

I am thinking about doing the same thing. I have a 93 Si as well hence my screen name. I have a d16z6 though. I believe you have to use the motor mounts from an Integra and the mounting points are the same. I am have the same question about the ecu and transaxle. GSR ECU and Trans? In terms of SMOG issues I can help you out with that. When you do the swap, (1)make sure you have all the Smog related components that are for that engine/vehicle it came out of. I believe you would have to run the GSR ECU as well as it is tuned for the engine.(2) Take the car to a referee station and have them BAR it for you and they will apply a special label to the vehicle saying this vehicle will be smogged with this engine and it will list the emissions components that are required for the engine. This will be my first engine swap when I get around to it.
Also, if your trying to ref this setup i HAS to be a usdm b18c1 NOT a jdm b18c. You cannot do jdm swaps legally anymore, UNLESS its a direct replacement. ie you have a 1994 integra gsr and you put a jdm b18c, thats legal, but you can't put a jdm b18c into a delsol, only a usdm. And all gsr smog equipment must be in the car. You can have aftermarket parts it has to be CARB legal for a gsr not a sol. good luck
Ok. Here is tHe deal according to the ref I spoke with over the phone. They will do a visual inspection. As long as the engine is visually identical, has the b18c1 smog equipment and has the usdm ecu, it should be fine. This means a u will need a usdm manifold and some sensors will have to be in the right locations. I dunno what the smog stuff would be. If you have any questions just call the ref. They are pretty cool. I called a ref in north Hollywood. He said they see this all the time. Ultimately I decided t just stick with my jdmb16a and get a sir5 series instead of the integra version. It just was turning out to be more costly than I had figured. And then the issue of passing smog was a concern as well. Hope this helps.
Btw, any1 know a good short ram for delsol dohc? I wanted to get the aem22-411 but I couldn't find it online.
