1990 Accord EX 2.2 Automatic with 104k Originally Miles on it.
Hello To all I am Dave and have a 1990 Accord EX 2.2 Automatic with 104k Originally miles on it. I am new here so looks like you guys have a lot of info here great. Look forward to asking ? to you in the future.....
Hello Dave. DO you believe that mileage to be correct? Thats only 5k a year. Almost too low to believe unless it could be verified. Either way welcome. Have you checked this out yet? https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-accord-1990-2002-2/1990-2002-accord-faq-1664547/ FAQ section is great resource somehow often overlooked. THe 90-93 accords are what I lovingly refer to as the battletank of Hondas. I have seen more of them with 3-4-5 hundred thousand miles and still kicking it no problem everyday. I argue that the 93SE is possibly the best overall Honda ever. Highway worthy comfort, adequately powered, Dual airbags, ABS, 4 wheel disks, Externally coiled distributor, 25-33 gallon, cheap and easy to buy/find parts repair. Only hard to find that particular trim. I have owned at least 10 of this gen accords and enjoyed everyone of them.
Hello Kway racing,
The mileage is correct its a long story. The short version is it was some broiled brat daughters car who did not like it so it sat in the garage for over 9 years. Beautiful car it had 72k on it when I bought it. I know the mileage is correct because everything looks f..... brand new in the car. Spoiled BRAT RICH KIDS I would have loved to had this f.... car NEW what a b...... she was and probably still IS. Glad I did not marry one of those brats......
Well I concur with you on the best by far is a 93 se model ONLY because that is my favorite year Honda. It had everything that year and plenty of power as well. Look forward to asking you questions in the future thanks for welcoming me.

You are welcome. That is one sweet sounding ride. I work on a few low mileage, garage kept 90-93 accords from time to time and love seeing one in great shape since most of these cars are near or over 200k and their bodies and esp. their interiors show the mileage. One customer in mind is barely at 40k and I just slobber all over it everytime I see it. Its a maroon 924drEX MT car. They bring it in every 6 months for an oil change. Absolutely clean undercarraige. ANyway, there is almost no repair that I have not performed to these cars. So post up. Has the timing belt been changed? While it may not meet the mileage requirements it triples the time interval if it has not been changed. Post some pics when you have met the post reqiurement. I love these Accords.
Hello KWay Racing,
Yes the timing belt has been changed @ 88K right on schedule..... The guy f... it up though and had to take it apart and do it all over again because of timing slightly off and he did not put the cover back on correctly. What a nightmare.
On another note 1 thing I do remember that these models are notorious for having go bad is the computer for the transmission under the passenger side carpet/floorboard. They call it the bad S light because it blinks. Mine has not gone bad yet do you have any idea when it will go bad? Another way to ask that is are all the models (90-91) affected by this dreadful problem?

Yes all 90-91 accord AT vehicles at some point will need a different TCM(transmission control module). I always suggest "rebuilding" of original because of the varations in parts. I have seen too many ppl install 2 or 3 different junkyard models before getting the correct one. Part numbers must match exactly for guaranteed operation. I deal with a company that repairs them for arounf 125 dollars. A new one is around 500. I took 17 of these apart investigating the cause of failure and 16 of 17 failed in the same way. About a 20 cent part from Radio shack.
Hello KwayRacing,
Thanks for responding back and indeed you are correct. Can you please send me any/all info you have on where to buy a new transmission control box. I would appreciate it as I am sure you have some websites. I would want to repair it as you did but I would need to ask for very detailed instructions from you on how to do that. I am sure that might annoy you and would be time consuming on your part for you to send me all that info hence why I ask for websites you know for a new part. Thanks for your help in this matter.
