Picking up my ZC on Sunday, need some transport tips
I'm taking the 7 hour trip to pick up my ZC on saturday night, I need some tips on how to transport this thing. I have a 2001 Ford F150 Truck that I plan on transporting it with, one thing to note is that it has a cap. One plus about the cap is that when you open the cap door it sticks just about straight up so it shouldn't get in the way while loading. Anyone with expierence moving these have any tips? I plan on bringing a pallet, tie straps, rope, wood to wedge the pallet in place and a cooler

i picked up my b18c in my dad's dodge ram. Heres what I did.
Had a dolly, heavy duty because we made the transport from one truck to another. I brought a set of mason planks to put accross the two beds' to wheel the engine from one truck to antoher. I rigged up a set of 4x4's and 2x4's to nail down around the dolly so that it does not roll around once in the bed. used straps to tie off to each of 4 corners of the trucks bed, opposite resistance is key
a set of blankets and some materials to protect the engine during transport would also come in handy. and a set of gloves.
truck had a cap too. Basically, just try and rig something up, it'll be a fun haul, drive slow and carefully, i had to go down to jersey city from my home about an hour and a 1/2 north..fun...but hey, now i've got this motor!

My drive is going to be incredibly long, luckily I think we're going up a night early so we can get a motel and possibly a nights rest before making the trip back. I have to weight out if the motel price is worth not getting something else like savings towards a turbo. I could sleep in the truck, I'll see if my co-pilot wouldn't mind. The thing I'm worried about is getting it into the truck which has a cap by using an engine lift, once it's in the truck I'm going to rig that sucker up with ropes and anything else I can find. One way or another that engine is coming home with, I don't care if it has to ride up front instead of me.
