Hi, my name is Danny and this is my first time owning a 2003 Acura Rsx Type-S myself. It is silver and has about 83,000 Miles on it. I am the third owner and the car is a Texas car, currently in New York now. I recently changed the Transmission fluid and the Coolant at a local Valvoline shop. I have some problems with my second gear grinding when I shift it into place and sometimes third gear comes out when I try to shove it in also. When I drive i try to skip second so I go to first to third then third gear doesn't pop back out. I am planning to get new shifter bushings for the car to improve my feel but I don't know if that is going to fix it or not. Can anyone help me on this topic? Thanks. Should I get a new clutch or something? Another thing, my intake box is kinda messed up from the previous owner. Anything I can do to fix it? Should I Try to duct tape it or buy a cheap intake? Second gear grind and third gear pop-out are the most common problems of the RSX transmission. They even had a service bulletin out for it.

To fix your intake don't be ghetto. Buy a new filter box. Plenty of people with them just laying around in their garages collecting dust.

Okay thanks lol, I am not really familiar with searching on this forums. Thanks for your help, how much you think a filter box would cost, not including shipping?

 

I'll sell you mine for $40 with a clean OEM filter.

 

I think I might find a used CAI or short ram for a reasonable price or if someone offers me a cheaper price for the box ill take it, but thanks.

Ill Take it for 20$ + Shipping w/o the filter. Get my filter free from Valvoline.

 

if you're not in rush, try posting WTB on relevant/proper area, might get lucky. As for CAI or short ram, you'd be looking to spend more than $20 for sure, even used ones w/o the filter, unless you go ebay and fine El Crapo Cheapo, lol... good luck!
