I just got done pulling a B20 with a b16 tranny from a true RHD eg6. now i believe the ecu was the stock one but there are no markings on it. nothing besides a date stamp. is there a way to tell what sort of ecu it is? i mean the eg6 comes with a b16, you wouldn't run a b20 off that ecu so im assuming it has to be changer right? im going to keep looking and reading up on it. But any help would be great

 

can you open the ecu and look for any markings/labels. there might be something on the inside near the ecu plugs. other than that, take some pics and post them up

if there are no markings or no lables on the ECU, it's highly unlikely that it's factory. Someone spent the time to remove the lables...

read the three digit code on the largest square chip inside the case of the ECU.
the picture will tell us the rest of the story.

the fact that I knew what it was off the top of my head means I need to get out more.

301 = P06 originally.
most likely since there are no labels it's been converted to run VTEC and chipped to run what ever it was meant to run.
So what's in the ECU isn't going to tell you much, what's in the chip is everything.
Find a local tuner or shop that tunes and have them read the chip.
Or better yet have them make a basemap for your setup.

 

well i am planing to use the same ecu to run the swap that it came with. the only problem is i just wanted to know what it was. now ill have a local tuner look at it if i can get a hold of him and then go from there. thanks for the info relic1
