Default 245/50-16s on 1990 EF

Can it be done? I have 16x7s, yes it'll have a decent hangover the edges, with a 40+ offset. Wondering if the tire clears the spindle arm or if a spacer is needed. I can correct for any rubbing with a hammer or by trimming and re bracing areas where it touches, just not sure about the spindle.

Anyone tried this?

Car has a SiR Tranny putting 405whp/290tq. The 205s obviously dont cut it, even on the highway. if 225 are the limit so be it, but I would like to go wider if possible, just for those track days and mountain passes

Thankyou guys for your help.

You are going to have to flare your fenders to fit 245's. They will not fit in stock wheel wells. What spindle are you talking about? Do you mean the rear trailing arm? IMO you would be better off with a 225-45-15 Hankook RS3. And please dont act foolish on plublic roads. Keep the go fast on the track.

Ok, well I guess I want a streetable tire. I would love to keep the wheels I run now, just running a tire with a tread rating in the 100s isn't really cost effective.3rd gear pulls onto the hwy is basically my only issue with traction, cage isn't in so I keep it to reasonable speeds... I was looking at even say a fuzion zRi set of 245/50s, just hoping the larger footprint would help traction and the increase in overall diameter would decrease the acceleration a bit

And the spindle issue, I guess I was trying to describe the arm that goes up to upper control arm
