things to do (in a nut shell)
Find ODB0 d16 engine or ODB1 d16 engine (you will have to convert harness to ODB1 for the newer engines)
convert harness to MPFI
replace motor/tranny mounts while your in there.
keep ur tranny? or get a used SI tranny? thats up to you.

The main thing is to DO YOUR RESEARCH/know the right people. find the right engine - most d series will bolt right up. remember your intake manifold/fuel rail/injectors are not gonna be reused, so grab one that fits the new engine, along with the wiring connectors off of the donor cars harness if ya can. You are gonna make 33X more work for yourself if ya get the wrong engine.

There's a lot of 1.6 liter motors.
Which one are you referring to?

d16 engines are the easiest and cheapest. its a direct upgrade to the d15 it came with.
b16 engines will make more power with DOHC. harder to swap, more $$$

just did conversion couple weeks ago to one of my buddy civic EF.

Easy direct bolt-on -D16Y7 from 97-00 civic non-vtec.
If you have DX you need to convert Dual port to MPFI wiring harness.
90-91 Civic Si intake manifold
90-91 Civic Si PM6 ECU
90-91 Civic Si tranny

I suggest you to rebuild the motor if you can, also balance and clean all the used injectors while you there.

You don't change the harness. You have to modify the DX harness thats on the car now to MPFI. Go to the FAQ and READ the (*DX,STD (DPFI) -> Si,HX (MPFI) wiring). Then if you still have question come back and ask them.

If you don't think there is much to it, then you should be able to read the FAQ and just do it.
