D2s or Ksports ???
i recently got my tax money back and i wanted to know some review on both sets of these coilovers. i dont have the money for gc/ky so people please dont say get koni yellows and gc. i will be getting the d2s or the ksports in the next few days so i just want to kno which will be better
What type of car are they going on? You can get gc/koni for $800 and Ksport and D2 are right around there. If you absolutely have to chose between those two I would pick ksport but there are better options. Look up PIC, Progress, and even Buddy Club depending on what you want to do.

I really doubt these rides like Ebays since I owned their old set on my DC2 and that rode pretty damn good. With the new design it should be better than that old set I had.

Every time this topic comes up I like to throw out the fact that my Koni Sport shocks are 8 years old with over 180K miles on them, and still going strong. Yes the shocks cost around $500 alone for the set, but where else are you going to get that kind of life out of dampers - those things that auto maintenance groups will tell you to replace every 50K?

This is my first time with a Honda/Acura (only owned VWs), I currently have D2 coils on my Integra. No problems yet and had the set for 3 years. Would a GC/Koni setup ride better? Defenitely. The dampening on the D2s ain't to good. But, the car only takes me to work and back. Gave me the drop I wanted and got them for a good price.
My VWs had:
H&R ultra lows coilovers (this was the best riding coil I've owned. Lifetime warranty)
Bilstein sports with H&R race springs (Very firm, but the car felt very sure footed)
Koni sports with H&R race spings (Rode really nice, preffered the feel of Bilstein instead)

Maybe, but not as well as GC's which are designed specifically to work with and properly capture the circlip on the Koni shock body, with no other O-rings or spacers required. With this setup the Koni OE-style spring perch is not used at all. It effectively turns the Koni damper into a threaded-body damper.
With cheap sleeves you still have to use the Koni spring perches and use o-rings or spacers between the sleeve and the shock body, and cheap sleeves would still be prone to mushroom out at the bottom and crack under the car's weight, corrode, etc.
Koni/GC really is a super-slick setup and IMHO one of the best for the money.

So basically only the sleeves are needed. I know GC is made by Eibach so quality is top notch for the springs, but what I'm getting at is the shock is more important. Who knows where those other sleeved coilover springs are made, they may fail eventually.
Would ebay coilover springs w/ GC sleeves on Koni shocks be as good as the GC/Koni setup? probably.

I have had my Ksport coilovers in less than a year now and one already blew. Car was not slamming either. Luckily I didnt sell my Koni yellows and H&R sport springs yet. I just switched them back in now the tires are rubbing in the back.
The konis are still holding up after 5+ years. I know there are others out there with the Ksport problem, has anyone been given a hard time with the shock being replaced by Ksport?

What Pat is trying to tell you that GC makes their sleeves to fit the Koni shock perfectly and is warrantied for life to not fail when paired with Koni shocks. Koni will also tell you that you need adapters to run any type of sleeves not made by Ground Control to keep their warranty. Also Eibach does not make GC or vice versa.
thanks guyz for the info. i would really love to have a set of koni/gc i just really think its to expensive for what im getting out my car, i cant really see myself spending over a grand for somthing im not going to be autocross all the time. its just my dd with some weekend dragstrip days. and i just wanted something pretty stiff. if i did get koni/gc i would get the race struts with 10k in f and 12k in r with tophats and a nice swaybar in the rear. but that set up will be on somthing when i can afford it

I thought Eibach made the GC springs? I thought all these coilovers were all made in Taiwan, but with specs made specifically for each manufacturer?
Like I said, the D2 coilovers on my Integra has given me no problems for 3 years now. Maybe i'm lucky. If and when they go bad, I'm switching to non-adjustable damping coilover with lifetime warranty. I prefer a coilover thats specifically damped for the springs used instead of a bunch of adjustments. I say I adjusted my D2 like a total of maybe 5 times since getting them. LOL.

I was gonna look into Progress coils. I may even try out H&R coilovers again. Anybody heard of B&G coilovers. Adjustable height with out decreasing shock travel with a lifetime warranty. These coilovers were getting popular on VWs. The thing is, these coils with a lifetime warranty go for $1000. I guess gotta pay to play!
