Auto to Manual conversion reverse lights????? please
Im doin a automatic to manual conversion on my 90 Hatch. can anybody tell me if theres any difference in wiring for the reverse lights???? please and thank you.. search some Auto to manual conversion forums but didnt find anybody touching on this subject..... thnx..
Yup.. im trying to find out.. im doin mine as we speak.. havent gotten there yet but im not sure if its a plug and they're the same for auto and manual.. hopefully somebody replies that has done it.
I did the conversion not too long ago. You have to run twi wires up to the tranny for the reverse switch I think.
Have you looked in the FAQ on this site?

it should be sticking out the top of the tranny if i recall correctly. its the only thing on the manual trans that has wires coming out of it lol.

think i got it... ic it on the auto trans... the two cylinder looking things rite on top of the trans below the temp sensors on the head.. and on the manual trans its to seperate plugs so i would just have to hook those and no problem..?
so long as we're on the same page then yea i think what you're saying sounds right lol. they are kinda strange looking barrel connectors that click together. they should look just like the connectors for your low brake fluid switch on your master cylinder fluid reservoir
yea male to female single connectors.. on the auto trans they're both on one plug.. but on the manual trans they're seperate and look like the ones on the master cylinder... i think we see eye to eye.. lol.. thnx for da info..! continue handing your knowledge man..! too many peeps on HT that see post and know the answers and dont respond..! thnx again..
Doing the auto to manual requires running 2 wires from the reverse switch on your tranny into the cabin and to the 10-pin connector located in your center console. The reverse lights switch for our cars in auto form is located at the shift lever itself... it never actually "sees" that reverse has engaged in the tranny. Do a google search for auto to 5spd conversions and you'll find pics of the connector I'm referring to. Good luck

lol i did my conversion like last month and you needa run wires from the wires that come out the tranny all the way to the center console where you had to bridge the 2 black thick wires for your started to get power at all times and connect them to 2 wires on the pin connector

When you do the auto to manual conversion there are several things you have to do with the connectors which you say "are just there". Connecting 2 of the wires will make the car think it's always in "P" (park) allowing you to start the car without a clutch safety switch. Another set of wires is for the reverse lights, and yes these are the ones you need to get to, no way around it. And yet another set of wires needs to be modified to allow you to remove your key from the ignition.
Search Google man, a quick search for "auto to manual civic" and you'll have WAY more than enough info.
