1992 honda accord, f22b1 vtec swap... 1000-2000rpm issue
si i bought a swapped cb7 accord 1992 which is automatic. Currently has an f22b1 automatic swap. bought the car this way, wiring is a bit of a mess and i have a few connectors missing. One being my iacv harness. I also have a random harness with no connector on it coming from the driver side of the engine bay, not in the engine harness... maybe causing issues. What the issue is is that the car idles fine, and runs fine past 2k rpm, but between 1k and 2k it surges horribly both with and without any load on the engine. I am wondering if anyone has had a problem like this and what the issue was, or if anyone has ideas of what may be wrong. Obviously i am looking into wiring the iacv and have already wired the missing intake air sensor. Car is obd1 now swapped obd2. I will have some pics and other info up soon, just getting this out for thought now. Thanks!
have done gsr turbo swap on my del sol so i'm not stupid, but honestly the kid i bought this off of had no idea what he was doing and it's a mess, so i'm going through everything while i'm in there to see what all else may be wrong.

i have same swap, but OBD1. if i remember doing my swap, i think i have one small male plug that was not needed, located underneath the intake manifold. any CEL, hows spark, TPS?
oh boy, well i have been putting it off so i'll try to remember the codes it's throwing... IACV, o2 heater(which i was told was not needed because it's the second o2), something about fuel tank pressure (92 accord does not have the wiring for this) and i THINK that's all that i still have popping up. ill have to check them again and get back to you on that. TPS is calibrated within spec, spark is good, no issues there, at least at idle, never tried to check it at the problem rpm area.
thinking of digging my aem uego gauge out of my del sol to help diagnose.
here's some pics...
first the random wires from the drivers side:

now i also have this thing that i honestly have no idea what it is... vacuum solenoid of some type maybe? it can't possibly be connected correctly.

these random wires under the intake tube coming up from under the intake manifold...

this harness was sent to rywire from what i was told.
it's pretty much a wreck as you can see.

Not sure if wire colour means anything but if it does. That solenoid with the vacuum hoses connected to it should be your A/T engine mount control solenoid.
The RED & BLK wires look as though they might have been added for the OBD2 CKP & TDC sensors down on the oil pump housing.
Only thing I could find that used a BLU/YEL wire in the engine harness was the EGR lift solenoid. Now were you say this is a hacked wire harness it's really hard to say what goes where and what should go where.
I would suggest that you get yourself a wire diagram for both Accords and try and track down what wires you are looking for.

ok, so today i got some things figured out... nothing important unfortunately. So, a coworker of mine also happens to have a 1992 accord... so i molested it today. The black and Red wires in the harness from the driver shock tower.. They go to a sensor in the power steering line near the rack. as for the rest of it i'm still kinda lost. I did find out that the iacv wiring on the harness WAS origonally supposed to be a lead off of the injector harness between injector 3 and 4, as the cb7's had their iacv on the front of the intake manifold. so i will investigate in that harness and see what i can come up with. Thanks for the help thus far... i appreciate any and all input. Ill keep this updated as best i can, unfortunately it's not at my house because i already have the gf's 07 civic, my 92 teg and my 93 del sol here, garage and driveway have been taken over. But i try to get to it as often as possible.
