Default AEM bypass

i was going to post this in my other thread but decided to just make a new one

i bought a AEM cai and i llive in RI, it rains all the time and streets get flooded so its got me worried, i know one solution is the bypass valve made by AEM http://www.andysautosport.com/honda/...cessories/aem/ has anyone here installed this? where does this install, between the cai and the intake manifold or am i supposed to cut the cai somewhere in the middle and put it on?

if your aem cai is one piece, then you have to cut it somewhere (usually before it goes down into the bumper) in order to install the bypass valve

First off, do you have an actual cold air intake that goes down into your bumper. Or is it a short one that the filter ends up behind the battery?

Ether way, if your concerned about the possibility of hydro-locking your car. You need to put that bypass above the water levels that you may encounter. If you encounter water levels that come up over your bumper than you have to cut the CAI and place the bypass up closer to the throttle body.

I thought you could simply place it between the intake and IM.

Put it as close to the throttle body as possible. That will give the valve time to open before water is past it. I have seen them fail twice. Both times, the bypass was at the split on the cai.
