Default rebuilding gsr

i am rebuilding my gsr with either ls crank and rods or stock gsr crank and rods with p30 pistons. but my question is can i run my motor with the stock cams and adjustable cam gears and still make power or will i lose power over stock? reason for not doing cams is lack of money and my motor took a dump on me ha ha. motor will be dd and c a few autox events. have been searching google and what not but have not found clear answers. or would it be worth it to wait it out and get cams, what cams are people running with these setups?

Either build you choose, it will make a bit more power if built right, even with stock cams. In one case, you'll be gaining displacement, good for more torque, and a few hp throughout the entire power band. In the other case, you'll be gaining more CR, should also gain a few more hp.
